Crist should follow…
By Chris Ingram
According to the Associated Press, U.S. Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA), is apparently going to do what he should have done a long time ago: officially join the Democrat Party.
Specter has long been considered a RINO (Republican In Name Only), by most Republicans. Making the change today is what any politically opportunistic politician (okay, so that’s redundant I admit it), would do.
For the GOP, this is good news. Saying good riddance to fakers and posers like Specter will help the GOP clean house. But Specter’s departure shouldn’t be read as a complete embrace of the right-wing of the Republican Party. In fact, if GOP party leaders continue to believe their own press releases about how wonderful they are, election defeats will continue for Republicans. What the Republican Party needs is a return to its fiscally (not socially) conservative roots and an embracing of principles of less government, personal responsibility, lower taxes, and trustworthy and ethical elected officials in Washington (if there is such a thing).
For Arlen Specter, so long. Don’t let the door hit you in the a**! And while you’re on your way out please take Senators Snowe, and Collins, and Governors Schwarzenegger and Crist with you.
