“Non-performin'” Norman needs a job

As you know, it’s tough being an elected official when the darned media starts asking questions about where you got your lakefront resort home in Arkansas and a pair of nice boats to go with it. What they don’t realize is it is tough being a county commissioner; and I need those boats for recreation – especially fishing for some big Bass! I have done my best to keep who paid for my wife’s house from you and the media because I don’t like to see people get upset. And that’s what you would be if you really knew where the coin came from. You would say: “that smells like something Kevin White dragged in.”

Never content to be outdone by Kevin White, Jim Norman is equally disgraceful.

A satirical look at Norman’s latest plea for help

By Chris Ingram

Dear sycophant Kool-aid drinking Republicans:

As you know, it’s tough being an elected official when the darned media starts asking questions about where you got your lakefront resort home in Arkansas and a pair of nice boats to go with it. What they don’t realize is it is tough being a county commissioner; and I need those boats for recreation – especially fishing for some big Bass! I have done my best to keep who paid for my wife’s house from you and the media because I don’t like to see people get upset. And that’s what you would be if you really knew where the coin came from. You would say: “that smells like something Kevin White dragged in.” And Lord knows I don’t want to be associated with him. As you know I am committed to fighting increasing taxes and mandates that continue to burden you – unless it happens to be a multi-million dollar sports complex with my name on it, or if the Feds. are paying for it on the backs of our children and grandchildren.

The reason I have chosen to run as your State Senator in District 12 is, I really need a job. Flying back and forth to Arkansas is about to break me. So even some low-paying job in the state legislature will help pay the bills the wife doesn’t pay. And while yes, the pay in Tallahassee stinks, you don’t have to work real hard, there are lots of free dinners and receptions to go to, and the people I meet up in Tallahassee who couldn’t give two piles of dog poop about you have deeeeeep pockets!

Fellow career politician Senator Victor Crist has reached the limit of his term in office and has endorsed my campaign as have all the bought and paid for “leaders” of our party. These are the guys who will give me plum committee assignments so I can shake down the lobbyists with the fattest bank accounts – so long as I do EXACTLY as they say. Oh, and I forgot to mention, one of the reasons I (like Victor Crist) am running for state legislature is because I am also term-limited. In short, my six-figure “job” on the county commission is as out of reach for me as the truth about my lake house is to you the voters and the media. So after twenty years of ignoring the real problems facing Hillsborough County (traffic being the big one people are always bitchin’ about), and focusing on irrelevant things like the sports park, I’m ready to take my knuckle-headedness to Tallahassee and be a voice for, uhm, err, uh, you. Yeah, that’s it. I’m going to work for you!

Keeping in mind that you need me, let me just say, I need you. I need you to walk, make calls, and talk to your friends about “nonperformin’ Norman!” Wait a minute, did I say that? Ah, forget it. Just come help volunteer.

I’ll be at the lake house if you need me.

Your incompetent pal,

Jimbo

p.s. If you’re interested in making things hard for the media to find, go to Arkansas. They have real convenient rules about disclosure, public records, and stuff like that – why do ya’ think ol’ Clinton lived there?

(Editor’s note: Norman’s “real” plea for help follows).

Dear Fellow Republican,

As you may already know, I am running for State Senate in District 12. It has been my privilege to serve as your Commissioner these last few years. I have done my best to keep taxes low, and conservative principles at the forefront. In a challenging political and economic climate that is in greater need of conservative leadership than ever before, I am committed to fighting increasing taxes and mandates that continue to burden our county from the State and Federal Government.

This is the reason I have chosen to run as your State Senator in District 12.

Senator Victor Crist has reached the limit of his term in office and has endorsed my campaign along with former Governor Jeb Bush and the next Senate Presidents who both want a conservative Senate. [Editor’s note to Norman: there is only one “next” senate president. So much for knowledge and experience…] I feel it is important to have someone from local government communicate your concerns in Tallahassee and represent you.

With that I mind I need your help. The primary is only a few weeks away. Your support is more critical now than ever. We can win, but only by increasing our efforts. Your volunteer time is needed for our phone banks, sign waving, mailings, writing letters to the editor, and door-to-door “superwalks.” Just a couple of hours a week can create a large impact. Please call our campaign office or email us if you can help in any way possible.

Thank you,

Jim Norman

  1. Chris,
I just wanted to take the time to write THANK YOU for the things you write in your “IRREVERENT VIEW” e-mails I get. A few years back I ran for State House but needed to get out of the race because the Company I worked for was acquired (long story).
Anyway, it was an eye opener on how the average citizen can’t get elected. I have often though what reaction I would get announcing now that I was running for President in 2012. Not as some nutcase, but as a guy who works 40+ hours a week, has 4 kids, a great wife… pets… list goes on…BUT NORMAL GUY, lol. I know I am getting off track… in a nut shell, thank you for writing like many NORMAL citizens feel about today’s politicians!!!
    All my best,
    Chris S

  3. Jim Norman and Victor Crist made a deal several years ago to swap seats. Initially Senator Crist endorsed Norman’s campaign for this reason alone. but recently, Crist had removed himself from endorsing in the race. (I wonder why?) If this “plea for help” is recent, then Norman is claiming an endorsement he does not have. Great write-up Chris!

  5. i’m pulling for Ambler b/c Ambler started the “Ought to be a Law” for young people,,,a program that Norman said he would probably not support if elected. Ambler has also been a great friend to the tobacco-free kids movement of which i’ve been involved.

  6. I doin’t know the candidate you are blasting, but I know of Senator Crist a bit. I know that I like him better than the Crist who would be a US Senator. I still cannot fathom your, or some others’ blanket disdain those you refer to as “career politicians.” Politicians are like ditchdiggers, doctors, political bloggers, or anhy other groups. some are very good, a few are very bad, and almost all of them want to do a good day’s work for a day’s pay. Some are more skilled than others, and some few are totally corrupt, but most are decent men and women who want to make a positive difference in the lives of their constitiuents.
