Okay, not really but since she’s playing loose with the facts, we are too
By Chris Ingram
She’s short on vision, possesses a hot-headed temperament, and apparently has an inability to tell the truth (my kid’s call that lying). Running out of steam, Rose Ferlita’s campaign is now running desperate ads that lie about opponent Bob Buckhorn’s involvement in a matter in which he had no involvement.
The ad claims Buckhorn was responsible for an old Tampa Police Department policy requiring officers keep their shotguns locked in their vehicle’s trunk. In its report today, The St. Petersburg Times noted the policy was in effect during Sandy Freedman’s term as mayor. Buckhorn served as an aid to Freedman. However, the Times said that the policy was established by the police department and not the mayor’s office.
The newpsaper’s “PolitFact” rated Ferlita’s claim as false.
I rate it a lie, a major distortion, and a desperate act from someone who will say anything to get power.
Bye, bye, Rose.
Buckhorn picks up PBA and The Tampa Tribune endorsements
The Tampa police union endorsed Bob Buckhorn yesterday. The move came as a surprise as the union indicated earlier that it would not make an endorsement in the run-off. The union had previously endorsed Dick Greco.
Buckhorn has previously received the endorsement of Tampa’s firefighter’s union as well as former mayoral candidates Ed Turanchik and Tom Scott. Rose Ferlita has been endorsed by Ronald McDonald and Scooby Doo (this claim has not yet been rated “pants on fire” by PolitiFact, but since Rose is so loose with the facts, why can’t we be as well?)
The Tampa Tribune also endorsed Buckhorn. In its endorsement in today’s paper it said, “…he posses the proper preparation, determination and temperament for the task [to be mayor].” Notice that word temperament keeps coming up. Read the full endorsement by clicking here.
Buckhorn has also been endorsed by the St. Petersburg Times.
