RNC Monday update

Among the Florida delegation, the buzz is all about “Toucan” Charlie Crist’s announcement of what we already know: he loves Barack Obama. Yesterday, Too Tan Charlie announced he was endorsing Barack Obama — duh! That was followed by a DNC announcement that the tan man would speak at the Democrats’ convention next week, which they should be calling Chuckles’ homecoming.

The Forum is ready, Isaac is going to pass (but give us a lot of rain), and the Committee on Arrangements has rescheduled Monday’s events with a new schedule to get Mitt Romney nominated.

Heavy rains are expected to continue today throughout the Tampa Bay area and local schools and many businesses are closed. Delegates and members of the media, as well as Moms and dads with kids unexpectedly home from school, and other locals throughout the area may be scratching their heads at today’s closings due to Isaac, but as long-term residents know, a big storm can turn on a dime. RNC and government officials decided to err on the side of caution.

As they say in Vaudeville the show must go on.

And it does.

Marco Rubio speaks to the Florida delegation at the Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor today at 8:00 a.m., sponsored by American Express (just kidding).

Other activities include the opening and quick recess of the day’s session at 2:00 p.m., as well as the start of protests downtown with up to 5,000 expected — at least the rain will mean the “occupy” protestors will get their first bath in days.

Later in the day, countless parties will occur throughout the night despite the suspension of most of the day’s convention activities.

Be sure to watch a special live edition of “Political Connections” for all your convention news from a local perspective tonight at 7:00 p.m. on Bay News 9 on Brighthouse Networks; subsequent nights at 6:30 p.m. The show airs on Brighthouse Networks in the Tampa and Orlando markets and throughout the I-4 corridor.

  1. Mr Ingram, sir, I find your comments amusing and just have to answer. Your snide remark about Charlie Crist who is by the way the most honest of all republicans may have a tan but you have an orange man in your party. You know who. Plus, I am a retired RN who showers daily and I am part of Occupy. You ‘people’ republicans are a blight on America and how do Amwericans know you are lying? Your lips keep moving.

  2. I also want to ask about the transparity of republicans. If we cannot ask any questions about Romney’s bank accounts or his taxes or his hidden money or his offshore accounts or his past at Bain capitol or his time as gov or his stands on anything or his ideas on medicare and social security or his wanting to take over all public lands to privatize them or allow children who have been statutorialy raped bear their child or have women resort to hangers and to bring America to the dark ages; can you imagine what it will be like if he is elected? Total blackout of all news except Fox. The good thing though is all of us will be armed against eachother.

  3. Wanda, it sounds like you’ve been ‘nipping’ the Obama kool aid a bit too much. Four more years of your messiah will likely ensure a socialistic nightmare of a culture. Not only will the dictator’s policies drive us into a Soviet-style economy with the masses living like OWS retreads, but his appointments to the SCOTUS will drive a stake through the American culture.
